THC Beer

Hello. Has anyone ever brewed a thc beer? I just recently did and cant wait to try it out! Its just a 1 1/2 gal second pull batch with 4 grams of pure kief. Should be about 3% abv not sure the mg per 12 oz but yeah should be good

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to give it a go!  I’m curious to hear the results.

How did you extract the thc? It sounds like you may have just added unprocessed plant material which would do nothing other than waste it and make the beer taste awful. I think carbonizing and extracting with alcohol would be the method to use but even then I imagine that it would only be good in a modest dose in a strong flavored beer.

I did it years ago.  My conclusion was drink a beer, smoke a joint.  YMMV.

LOL!  I remember those days very well!

This ^^^^^^^^

I believe the few breweries around the US that are trying this are using terpenes to infuse… but I agree. drink the beer, smoke the bong.

yup, cannabis in a water tea does nothing. very high strength alcohol is the most reliable way to extract THC and other relevant substances in regtards to beer. (you could use oil perhaps? outside of my experience)

this would also help you in measuring dosage, especially if you bought it. in canada, you can buy weed AFAIK (i don’t use it) with labeled variety, THC content, etc.

Personally, I always hated ingesting weed in ways other than smoking, as it is slow to act and then hits you like a ton of bricks and not in a good way.

Tried some at a beer festival and almost spit it back up. Haven’t tried it since so I don’t know whether it was a bad batch or that’s what it actually tastes like.

After hearing so many experiences that are mediocre (at best) with the real stuff, it astounds me that this stuff exists:

does this stuff actually contain THC??

No, that was my point. If the real stuff doesn’t give good results,  why bother with THC free stuff?

gotcha. Strange…THC free weed.

It’s low in thc but high in CBD. For many it is effective for anxiety, pain, etc.

Right, but I just can’t see it’s effectiveness as a homebrew flavorant, which is what this is being marketed as.

dose clear oil at bottling/kegging or any other decarbed oil and be super careful and put your seat belt on, you might meet some entities

Maybe just use some beer in the Bong, beer bong?

There’s a recipe in the March/April 2020 issue of Zymurgy magazine and here: THC-Infused Caramel Amber Ale - Beer Recipe - American Homebrewers Association

It comes with a disclaimer:

THC-infused beer can—and very likely will—induce psychoactive effects, which can vary from person to person. Consume these beers responsibly and at your own risk. If you are unsure of what to expect, start with a very small sample and wait a few hours before consuming more.

…and an Editor’s Note:

Despite legalization and/or decriminalization of cannabis and cannabis-derived products by many states and the District of Columbia, marijuana remains classified as a Schedule I substance under the Controlled Substances Act of 1970 and, thus, federally illegal. The American Homebrewers Association neither endorses nor discourages brewing with cannabis-related products, however homebrewers who do so should remember that such beers are not permitted in the National Homebrew Competition. Most local and regional competitions also do not allow cannabis beers at this time.
