To anyone in Boston area

Can anyone in the Boston area give me a suggestion where I can go to watch the fireworks on the 4th this year. We will be staying in the Revere area. It is our first 4th in Boston. Not sure if I need to take a folding bag chair or if I can carry one on subway. I know parking is bad from a previous trip.

You could make friends with an MIT student or two and hang out on the roof line overlooking Mem Drive. They pipe the music across the river as well. (Ok, it was a lot easier to do that when I was an MIT student and the world hadn’t gone any terrorist buggy, but the actual point is don’t forget about the Cambridge side.

On the more practical side, the blue line is your friend and if you’re not obnoxious about it I can imagine the T giving you much hassle for packing in light gear - particularly now that they forbid rolling coolers and backpacks.

WBZ has a good guide up from last year. Note that all the extra security thanks to the Marathon bombing will probably still be active.

Stay away!  ;D  Just kidding…that’s actually what I do.

I used to work in a hotel in Back Bay, and even though I never did it, some employees would go to the roof to watch the fireworks (37 stories up).  I know we would jack up the rate for the 36th floor suite that over looked the Charles.

Don’t hang out with the MIT guys…they spend the whole night explaining why certain fireworks explode in a particular pattern and color…and will have charts and graphs to back it up  :stuck_out_tongue:

If you’re a member at the Museum of Science they sell tickets to watch from the top deck of the parking garage. No booze allowed, but otherwise it’s a great spot and a fun time. http://www.mos.org/member-events/4th-july

I’ve also waded the crowd in Cambridge in the general vicinity of Mass Ave and Memorial Drive. It was a good vantage and the crowd wasn’t as bad as I had expected.
