Toasting an oak dowel for flanders red

I got some white oak dowels for a flanders red, but I can’t seem to find out how to get a medium toast on my white oak.  I know I should put it in the oven for a certain amount of time at a certain temp, but I googled and can’t find it.  Has anyone done this and how to toast it, it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Erik

Kiln dried wood can have chemicals on it (not just treated wood), I’d personally buy some wood products designed for wine/beer use.  Or get a piece from the woods and air dry it.  If you are dead set though, I’d use a propane torch and brown the outside of the wood to a medium brown.
