He’s already learned the importance of smashing the dough balls

Nice.  I have a picture somewhere of my three year old helping to bottle (she’s sixteen now).  Enjoy the time, it goes by fast!

Nice picture.  Not quite old enough to scoop out all the spent grain and hose it out for you but he’ll be there soon!

That’s awesome! All my kids have helped along the way as well and everyone has been a great time, although now it seems all they want to do is drink the beer:D

Yeah, I’m still stuck with all the heavy lifting but baby steps

Those are going to be some good memories for him!

How did you talk Jack Sparrow into helping?

He’ll be proud of this experience. Like father…like son. I see more of this in his future.

CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow

If he stirs in grain to water(a little at a time) there won’t be any dough balls.

Where do dough balls come from?

He’s also going to understand the importance of a blue cooler too!

Those days pass quickly.  My “bottle capper” is now a senior in college and a certified beer snob!  But he gets invited along whenever his friends are going out crafting for the night and is quick to turn me onto another great porter or stout.  Man, I wish I could have it both ways…the bottle capper was great to have around.

My thoughts exactly.

I also love that you are teaching him the importance of the blue cooler mashtun.  Too many people out there doing a disservice to the next generation using the inferior red ones.

Did you make him his own short stock mash paddle?

Anybody ever tell you you look like a young Carlos Santana?

Great pic. My son will be helping me out soon enough. Can’t wait for that.

I actually got that for him at NHC last year. There was a guy, Princeton homebrew supply maybe? they were giving out skeeter pee and selling these cool little mash paddles. He always wants to help mash in so it seemed a natural gift. A good friend of mine made my mash paddle for Christmas last year.

That’s actually a new one. Johnny Depp I’ve heard but Santana’s cool.
