UNI-STAT III vs Ranco ETC-211000

Just noticed the UNI-STAT ad in the latest BYO.  I am thinking about automating my fermentation temp control very soon and was wondering…

Any experience-based opinions/observations regarding the UNI-STAT III as a cooling/heating controller, especially as compared to the much-lauded Ranco ETC-211000?  Ease of use, functionality, reliability, etc.

The prices and features seem to be comparable.  The UNI is claimed to made in USA.  Anybody mind making a bit deeper compare-and-contrast than that?

Holy fallow thread Batman!

How about skipping the foregoing specific comparison–does anyone here kindly own/use the UNI-STAT III (or II) or know anyone who does?

I dont. I have two ranco setups I bought from morebeer and they work great.

I just realized that William’s Brewing sells the UNI-STAT III badged as their “Controller III”.  Seems like a nice deal for $99.

Anyone have that?

I do. I got it when I added a keezer and wanted a new controller for my ferm chamber(also a freezer).  Before I was using a Johnson digital but it would overshoot temps big time. Once I had it se to 64 and walked in the room to find it was all the way to 59.  I talked to the guys at Williams and they said this would work better as you can put on a 50% duty cycle. It has worked well for me and stays a good temp. I also like that the probe can be easily removed.
