Utah Bio-Diesel SS Filters

Just found these folks, who manufacture filters out of stainless steel. They claim the 400 micron filter is perfect for the mash, while the 300 micron filter works well with hop pellets. Has anyone used their filters before?
I brewed from 1990-2009. Always used hop plugs as they made a perfect filter bed in the bottom of my boil kettle. As we must now use pellets, we are seeking a way to keep the green pellet “sludge” out of the fermenter.

I’ve had one of their hop spiders for almost a decade now. Works as expected.

Same here - solid welds, no rust, keeps the majority of the hop sludge out of the kettle.

This is good news! I will place an order for a couple of custom cut screens to go in the bottom of my mash tun and boil kettle, 400 / 300 micron, plus a hop spider.

Why must you use pellets? Whole cone hops are available.

When I use whole cone I use a false bottom. It creates a great filter bed.  Plus, whole cone are great for dry hop.

When I use pellets I whirlpool and a side pickup. I still get a bit of hop trüb but oh well.

The hops I like are hard to get whole. Saaz, Hallertau, Kent Goldings, etc.
But available in pellets, which I have never used before!
Always used plugs, and these made an excellent filter bed.

Check Hop Heaven and Hops Direct. You might be surprised at what you can find in whole cone.

Thank you for the heads up! I will check into this. Good news!

Hop Heaven.  Great selection of imported and domestic whole cone hops.
