Greetings,
Heading up to Vancouver, BC and would like to get some recommendations on which breweries to visit.
I too am headed up there as well in just about 10 days! Based on a bunch of research, as well as personal preferences (I’m more of a malt-head than a hophead), I plan to visit the following, in approximately this order of preference, and my own reasons provided:
Brassneck Belgians, stout, porter
Storm unique, not sold but accept donations, sours, stout
Powell Old Jalopy EPA, porter
Strange Fellows Belgians, saison/grisette!
33 Acres schwarz, selection
Steamworks pilsner, Flagship IPA
R & B oatmeal stout, ESB
Parallel 49 Scottish, Ruby Tears amber
Doan’s Craft (DC) lagers & ryes!
Main Street Belgians, stout, brown ale
Cheers!
Thanks for the tips. I’ll report back on any I go to.
Ditto.
I’m there now. Granville Island has solid beers.
Was able to hit a few this weekend. The favorite was Brassneck, great beer and tasting room. Really liked 33 acres as well. We hit Granville Island when we first got in, pretty good beers, crazy crowds on the whole island (was on Saturday) The only real disappointment was main street. We started in the tasting room and found nothing good, so we skipped the main room. The places we went didn’t really have any porters or stouts, have a friend who loves those. R and B was good as was Steamworks. (Steamworks is a little price, it’s right on the water by the cruise ship terminal) Yaletown brewing was good too.
