Since I’m moving my operation out to the garage, and will be cleaning, rinsing, etc. equipment outside…any clue if PBW will destroy grass?
The hot water is probably more of an issue but I would try it on a corner or your lawn where no one will notice and see what happens.
Will do, don’t want to ruffle the neighbors feathers with dead grass.
SWMBO found my cooler full of PBW in the garage that I was using to clean bottles and thought it was ‘dirty water’ from the rain, and dumped it all in the grass. Didn’t do anything to my lawn.
PBW breaks down into water, oxygen, and salts. I’m sure one could over do it, but you should be ok. I normally let it go down the storm drain or the bathtub drain.
StarSan I’ve had mixed results. During the summer it burned the grass. Not sure if it was the heat, sun, or combo of the two. Apartment folks didn’t notice, so that’s good.
I think it’s a combination, plus the pH of the Star San. If you neutralized the pH, it would likely be an excellent fertilizer, as it is primarily phosphoric acid.
Bacteria and bugs will probably not be happy to be doused in PBW. Grass may not mind. I dump spent Starsan solution in the garden or in my rain barrel because I have alkaline soils.
In short, no, PBW, Oxy nor Star San will effect the lawn in their properly diluted forms. The hot water used in brewing has a greater potential for damage, especially if you are using hot water when the lawn is cold or going dormant for the winter.

PBW is just about all my backyard lawn got fed last Summer. I brew about once a month. Based on that, I think you’ll be fine.
