Wall mounted bottle "tree"

I was looking at my wife’s thread holder the other day and thought, “that looks just like a bottle tree.” Has anyone else thought of that? Hers looks like this, only it’s hung on a wall: http://www.mccallsquilting.com/blogs/files/2011/02/Thread-rack-11-225x300.jpg

I’m thinking of making something like that to store all of my empty bottles.

Building a bottle tree is something that I keep as one of those projects that I want to do but I keep pushing off.  Are you thinking of building it for bottle storage, or also for drying?  I want to build one for drying and I haven’t convinced myself what the best material would be.

Most chemistry labs have something like that for drying glassware. If you had the wallspace, it would be great for beer bottles.

Pretty pricey.  Nearly $100 for the Lab bottle tree.

A beer bottle tree costs around $45.

DIY is cheaper

Well, it’s for a lab.  It will be 3x what it should be just for that reason.

… and 20x more if medical/surgical.

If you decided on wood, teak is a very strong, durable option. Treated with either butcher block oil or solid coats of urethane, it would be waterproof enough to dry bottles without warping.
