How accurate are the values for Deer Park bottled water that appear on Beersmith?
The water profile from the deer park website for both the drinking water version and the spring water version vary from beersmith. It seems like the values on Beersmith are the mid point for the spring water values.
Any ideas?
When using deer park, what are your adjustments to keep good ph? (I will be brewing an ale ~5.5ABV)
Bottled water companies rarely, if ever, get their water from one source, hence the wide range of mineral content listed on their site. So to answer your question: not at all reliable.
Just a thought- distilled or RO might be better way to go. It’s also cheaper than bottled spring water I think.
As far as your PH using deer park or any other water - it all depends on your grist and brewing salt additions, regardless of your water PH. it’s the total alkalinity and buffering capacity of your water used that impact how easy or how difficult it is to move the PH into your desired target.
