What BJCP style category/subcategory would a breakfast style stout with oats, coffee, and chocolate added to it best fit into?

Specialty.  The coffee and chocolate take it out of stout territory.

I’d say Spice, Herb, Vegetable would be the best fit

Thanks Denny. I was thinking this would be the ticket after reading the stout descriptions. I hope to be chosen to enter the NHC. I plan on entering two stouts… Neither of which will be in the stout category lol

I’ll still stand by SHV, check the style guidelines I believe Founders Breakfast Stout is even listed as a commercial example

I think you’re correct, though in most competitions either is fine - especially with two specialty ingredients.

I always try to avoid the stout and IPA categories. Too many entries.

Looks like 21a will be the ticket after reading the guidelines

Honestly unless they really jump out at you, you could enter it as an oatmeal stout.  You get a lot of coffee and chocolate notes in these anyway.
