My intention was to brew a Dampfbier. However, my liquid weizen yeast was DOA in the Alabama heat even with the optional ice pack so I reverted to US-05 as my emergency backup (I keep a pack on hand for just such emergencies).

That Dampfbier sounds interesting - I just googled it and read the Horst Dornbusch article from an old BYO mag. I would give that another try in the fall (or whenever yeast survival is not an issue)…I am definitely putting it on my list to brew.
I reordered the ingredients for a Dampfbier but ordered dry Danstar Weizen yeast this time. …but the Blonde Ale turned out fantastic! I tapped it last night. First time I’ve used US-05. Not bad at all.
