What is it with ukuleles and beer?

I thought the connection was uniquely embodied in Denny.  Then this morning I read this in the weekly beer notes in my local paper:

“Hoppin’ Frog Brewery, 1680 E. Waterloo Road, Akron, will host a ‘Strum and Sip’ class from 6 to 8 p.m. June 10 with people learning to play the ukulele while having a beer.
The class will be taught by a musician from the Rising Star Center for the Arts in Akron. People can bring their own instrument or use one provided.
Tickets are $25…”

I never made the ukulele/beer connection but it sounds like fun. When I see or hear Denny play I think of Tiny Tim singing Tip Toe thru the Tulips. [emoji851]

So do I!

I went to a bar in Dublin that holds a big uke get-together every Tuesday night. People from around the world were there. It was packed. Good time!

This guy absolutely ROCKS the ukelele

Wow!  He certainly does!  I’ll never think of the ukulele the same way again after that performance.

My landlord’s roommate just got a ukulele for her birthday. I’m not sure yet if that’s good or bad.

I guess it’s better than an accordion.

Or bagpipes. [emoji46]

Play the accordion, go to jail…it’s the law

Now I have all these ukulele videos featured when I open You Tube!  [emoji33]

Hey now, some of us love bagpipes, I don’t think I’d want front row seats to someone just learning to play them though.

Blackwatch on the Royal Mile. Awesome.

Exactly! [emoji23]

AC/DC “It’s a long way to the top, if you want to rock 'n roll” .

I remember when my friend’s 7 year old daughter was learning to play the violin, I was very grateful it wasn’t my kid.

I have been enjoying learning the Uke. I have discovered the circle of fifths and realized I can play a bazillion songs with very few chords:

I–V–vi–IV, C–G–Am–F
V–vi–IV–I, G–Am–F–C
vi–IV–I–V, Am–F–C–G
IV–I–V–vi, F–C–G–Am

Amazing how many songs use those four chords.

You’ve discovered the secret!

I’d like to submit the mandolin-twice the strings, twice as good. Also, the strings are in the right order (Low to high). And you still get the benefit of holding an instrument that looks too small to be for an adult.
