what type of copper for a IC

First post!!! Whats up guys, I want to make 50’ 1/2’’ IC. Is refrigerant copper ok for this? Thank you

It seems to me that there are varying qualities that handle different temps. It would be fine if it can handle 212º. I used utility for mine. Seems to me refer is too soft

Thank you

The roll of 50 Ft X 1/2 in copper refrigeration tube I bought many years ago works fine. Good to 400F the specs say. You want something that is easy to form. I rolled it around a corny keg to form it. Used compression fittings on the ends.

Thank you very helpful. Copper is so expensive  >:(

Ya it is. I looked at home depot when I built mine. Like $180. We have a this-n-that store near by. I found a 60’ roll of new 1/2" for $90. Score!

Do you have a attachment to whirlpool ?

Yeah, after I saw that price that it might just be worth buying one, so I searched the one a bought about a year and a half ago. I got it from morebeer, and it was $100… It’s now $139  :frowning:

I do based on this.

do you guys know if a lot of sweat connections is ok?

Most solder is lead free these days, and would work fine.

Yes. Mine is attached wuth zip ties that I cut to clean then reattach

Check out shark bite too. Seems easy and no solder. I bought a torch and soldered mine cuz I wanted to learn how

Thanks guys hugh help

Clean it after soldering, as flux tastes nasty.

The solder you want will say lead free right on it. Get water soluble flux.

Thanks guys ill post something and show yall what I did

If you look under equipment, I posted mine about three months back.
