Recipe: Hop Soup (59)
Brewer: Fred Bonjour
Asst Brewer:
Style: American IPA
TYPE: All Grain
Taste: (45.0) This is a not to style beer. The grain bill is a Dopplebock grain bill. This gives it a tremendous amount of malt to offset an absolutely insane amount of hops.

1 Pound of leaf hops was too much. 1/3 of my boil kettle was hops, thus Hop Soup. Capped the boil and impedied boil off
This beer has a very mild and smooth bitterness is seems to be something around 50 IBU’s (remember this was 1 pound of whole hops put in the dry kettle.) The aroma has a herbal character that some describe as grassy.
This is an easy drinking, easy to drink, easy to slam beer that will sneak up on you with a reverse slam.

update on this beer… it sat in primary for about a month and then “lagered” another month… (i had an unfinished keg i put in the keezer and dropped the temp down to 42 degrees and the beer sat in there.) after i emptied the keg (this week), i racked this beer into the keg. i pulled off a sample. it tastes fairly light with a moderate hoppiness. this should be a pretty good “drinking” beer to have around the next couple months.
after it carbonates and i start drinking it, i’ll update the thread with a more specific review of it.
