Alright, I’ve been waiting for this one.
January 2nd - Belgian Strong Golden Ale and on January 5th a Dry Irish Stout. Presuming that nothing important is frozen solid. Both 5 gallon batches.
English Special Bitter with WLP002 and possibly a lager with S-189 (depending when my yeast order arrives.)
+1
Using WLP002, Northern Brewer and/or EKG, but I’m not quite sure about the grain bill at this moment.
My first ten gallon batch based on my house Special Bitter recipe

Sunday I will be brewing Munich Helles with WY2124.
i actually just got into brewing. A buddy of mine has been doing it for a few years but lost all his equipment so i got a kit for christmas and we just started our first brew today a black and blue light ale should be pretty good. Im rather excited for it.
This is the recipe I came up with for my Hoppy New Year IPA. I am going to use approx half of the WLP002 British Ale yeast cake from my last batch bottled on Sunday.

I’ll be brewing with Mr Bonjour tomorrow. I have ten pounds of various hops to choose from and 22 lb of brewers two row…plus one of the guys has a few pounds of wheat malt.
Sounds like this for 10Gal:
22Lb of two row pale ale
2Lb wheat malt
2.8 Oz of Horizon to bitter
2.4Oz of Cascade to finish
Not much in the way of sweetness, maybe some body and head, pretty light in color…I’ll mash high and boil longer and maybe just hopblast the Horizons with a few minutes left and dry hop with the cascades. Should be right around 15P. Sounds like fun.
Cheers and beers !!!

10 gallons of Happy Wife Pale Ale to finish out a trilogy on a Nottingham yeast cake. And I’ll be brewing with my daughter’s boyfriend, he’s done a few extract batches and wants to go all grain.
Simple recipe
10 gallons, all grain
20 pounds 2-row pale, toast 2 pounds at 350F for 15 minutes
2 pounds Carapils or wheat
Mash at 152
2 oz Mt. Hood 60 minutes
2 oz E. Kent Goldings, 1 oz hallertau for 20 minutes
Scratched this idea, now it’s a porter. 5 gallons gets coffee, 5 gallons gets vanilla beans.
Some obscure thing called Denny Conn’s RYE IPA. With a big slurry of Wyeast 1450.
Mashed in on the Belgian Strong Golden Ale.
I brewed a Porter and kegged a pale ale.
Been on vacation this week. I have brewed an IPA, an ESB (also with WL002) and am brewing a Brown Ale as I type. Waiting for the mash to finish up so I can start filling the keggle. My friends blew through my reserves this week so I have to build the stock back up again so I can face the new year!
I am mashed in at 151*f on a 5 gallon batch of Pilsner/Lager…with
handful of wheat
handful of Aromatic
handful of Carafoam
handful of Canadian Honey Malt
Handfuls totaled 1/2 # of grain
Interesting will be the water I put together
using 10 gals of the “Glacier Machine” water from Albertsons and then adding 2 gallons of my
well water with a gram of Epsom Salts.
Will pitch Safale S-189 (2 packets) when I get down to lager pitching temps…
Here tiz goin in the fermenter…bit heavy…but I tend to like .060ish beers
It’s Lager Season…
Whooee, I loves me a good Vertical1 hydrometer shot 8)
First days of the decade…a porter bubbling
and a citrillo pale pitched here.
Happy new year all!
Just brewed a a nice malty Scotch ale on Saturday (Jan 2). OG 1.104, how many shillings is that anyway?
Took a while to get going despite a wicked HUGE starter. Gave it another shot of aeration the second day. It’s going nicely now at about 56F. Next up…
A double batch of Belgian Dark Strong split between 2 pots. Mash 10 gallons worth and then boil separately. 5 gallons with an bit of star anise (perhaps…) and then some pomegranate molasses added mid ferment for more ferementables and another 5 gallons with an infusion of tangerine zest and then some cacao nibs in the fermenter, perhaps some vanilla bean as well. When is the next posting?
