What's Brewing this week: weekend of Jan 15

I’m brewing a helles with S-189 right now, and a group APA tomorrow (first full test of our 1 bbl system - hopefully post some picks next week.)

We’re off for MLK day (but the wife is not  :P ), so brewing 12g of all Centennial IPA to celebrate batch 100 (even though its really batch #104  ::)).

Looking forward to it - am trying TF Halcyon for the first time in this one.  Been growing up some 1450 all week…

Started stepping up a slant of WY1084 to use in the Irish Red I’ll be brewing Sunday.

i’m brewing that black ipa i started a thread about on sunday…

forgot to smack my smack pack this morning to make my starter tonight, so i guess i’ll smack it tonight and make the starter saturday morning…

If you’re making a starter you don’t need to wait for the smack pack to swell.  Just smack it, shake it up, and pour it into the starter.

yep.

cool.  thanks for that info.  this is my first starter…

yep, the only point of the “swelling” is to verify that you’ve got viable yeast in the smack pack.  If you’re making a starter (which you should pretty much always do), you’ll verify the viability with it instead so no need to wait for the swelling.

Have a steam beer conditioning, and will be brewing an all citra hop APA.

awesome - be sure to post your thoughts here (http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/forum/index.php?topic=629.msg10805#msg10805) once you’ve had the beer.

10+ gallons of Dunkelweizen. 3068 came off the stir plate last night and will get a real wort starter while the rest of the wort is chilling to 60.

5+ gallons of Pils using all home grown Mt Hood hops
Slurry from aa Dunkel is getting woken up with real wort starter as well.

Going to try and squeeze in 3+ gallons of Braggot too.

“Session” Saison with homemade candi sugar…

I am brewing Munich Dunkel this Sunday.

Brewing a stout either tomorrow night or Sunday night.

Not brewing this weekend.  >:(  Kegging 10 gallons of Schwarzbier though!!  :)  Will lager it for a couple months!!

I will be brewing my first homebrew this weekend, a allgrain English brown ale.  If everything goes well I also plan on brewing a Belgium wit.

James

Congrats on your first brew!

I’m cooking up a Kolsch tonight.

Just got done brewing a Munich Dunkel. First time doing this style, hopefully it turns out good!

I’m going to brew a sort of American/English IPA. I have about 14 lbs of Maris Otter UK 2 row left over. I picked up some crystal 60, wheat malt, simcoe and centennial hops and WLP001. Going to get a starter going on the stir plate tonight and brew on Sunday. Just kind of messing around. Have alot of beer on hand, but have to brew!!! ::slight_smile:
