I’m pulling some experiments right now in tincture making, but I’ve got a few things to transfer and some trouble to cause so who knows what the weekend might bring. Might brew a middling Scottish Ale to provide sufficient yeast for a truly goofy idea I’ve got going on.
I brewed a Rochefort 8 clone last weekend, and am waiting for some Staropramen yeast to arrive in the mail, so the only brewing I will do this weekend is making a lager starter.
Brewing a 1 gallon batch of something resembling the 1839 barclay perkins XXX from the shut up about barclay prekins blog.
Couldn’t find organic mild malt so toasted 10 pounds of pale malt at 230 for two hours to get close. we will see.
and with the second runnings a small beer of sorts. gonna have to see about some way to up the body on this by capping the mash i would guess but any ideas are welcome.
Finally brewing again. It will be a Weizen on Sunday. I prepared the yeast starter last night. Still debating the mashing schedule, but I will be brewing for sure.
after a month of non activity, im brewing this weekend my first AIPA, think im gonna used Cascade and maybe some Citra… also Cascade for Dry Hopping in the secondary, for first time my brand new wort chiller (SS)
yeah, im so excited!
Lots o’ keg/ carboy cleaning for starters, then onto brewing. The Patersbier will be ready for secondary leaving a great cake of 3787 which I will harvest and pitch appropriately into 12 gallons of Tripel on Saturday.
I’m hosting my annual Oktoberfest party on Saturday. I might pick up ingredients for next weekend’s Bière de Garde brew. I also plan to spend some time rethinking some of my recipes. I’ve had a couple of fails in a row, I’m sorry to say. :-[
I’m picking grapes for a friend on Saturday, and the brew club meets Sunday. Not sure I’ll sneak in a brew unless we get two tons of grapes picked in half a day. We wll be brewing up an extract kit at brew club, one of the Irish band members is getting into brewing. Yay!
