When ya goto Tulsa

Visit here…and check the 350 beers menu in pdf…NICE…enjoy

Go on Wed nights for the $3 burgers! And the beer of course!

Won’t be down there till March/April…but then I might!  ;D

I went there once. They were nice enough to serve me a horribly acetic beer from their hand pump. I left promptly and will never go back (not hard to say, I may well never happen to be in Tulsa again). I find American bars to be generally bad at serving beer via hand pump but this was a whole new kind of bad. Does not bode well for their competency in general.

maybe a moot point since you may not be in Tulsa…
but after they served you the acetic pint, did you bring this to their attention? and if so, what did they do? sh*t happens, problems occur in any business. for me; it’s not the problem, but how did they handle it. I’m not saying that they shouldn’t have had the beer go acetic, and they should have been aware of it before it got horribly bad, but I’d give them a small chance of making it right in some way if all else was ok.

Very cool! McNellie’s Public House is my home bar away from bars. I second Wednesday nights, but Monday night is pint night where you drink the beer & keep the glass!  8)

FTR… Bad beer isn’t the norm, so you had a bad experience.

Well, I’ll be happy to try it again assuming I make it back down next fall.

It’s really a great little bar/tap house. It may seem unworthy compared to other big city venues, but obviously they’re doin’ something right… as they just made DRAFT Magazine’s 2011:America’s 100 Best Beer Bars list!  :-X

Jeff, thanks for the link.  Some real good ones on there.  Your local is in good company.

Looks like I will be there in about 8-10 days.  Anyone up for a meet and a beer? ???

Let me know closer to when your going to be in town. With tax season I never know what time I will get out of work, but I am always up to going to McNellies for a beer.

Now that the basketball tournament is over, I might head back downtown for a pint? Send me a PM!

You’ll be…

Living on Tulsa Time

There’s no truth to the rumor that the stage sank under the shear weight of the talent onboard minutes after this video was recorded.  (look at all dem Yardbirds!)

Good un punatic…I’ll be visitin on tulsa time…lol

My apologies to get anyone’s hope up for a meet.  The car’s cv joing puked all it’s grease
onto the hot muffler in Hot Springs and there was not any abundance of subaru parts to be
found…two days later I got the car functional again and that really tapped into my visiting.
I just could not fit in a visit to the aforementioned pub…maybe next time.  >:(

Sorry to hear you had Subaru troubles! I’ve got one myself, a 2008 Tribeca. Probably the nearest dealership was Tulsa or Little Rock? Just let us know the next time your around and we’ll grab a pint.  :frowning:

Yeah, It was Little Rock for the nearest Dealership. However what I wound up with
much to my chagrin, was aftermkt…napa…still it took overnite to obtain the part @ the shop.
I was fortunate that I found a good shop in Hot Springs that did NOT take me to the cleaners
and honored a different warranty from a different company…that actually worked out fairly well.
I was for sure at their mercy.

I would not have been so miffed except that I changed that CV joint not 30 days before I left…

Next time  Igo to OK City for business I’ll spend a night in Tulsa.  We have some potential clients there.

corky, I got a 1/2 price room thru priceline at
Courtyard Tulsa CentralCourtyard Tulsa Central
3340 South 79th East Avenue
Tulsa, OK 74145

Good place to stay with a great breakfast kitchen in the place.  It is not real
close to McNellies tho.  I looked around downtown for a hotel that was within
walking distance to that pub and did not find anything I was willing to chance.

This day and age, there is supposedly a scourge of pests that can be acquired
staying at lodging chains…I don’t need or want that …so tend to shy away from
older downtown high rise lodging.

Next time… try the Courtyard Tulsa Downtown in the old Atlas Life Building for about $85/night. This place is history in T-town! It’s about 3 1/2 blocks from McNellie’s (+others), but they have a great little 50’s diner & the press club bar on the bottom floor that always has fresh local (Marshall IPA or Pub Draught) beer on tap. It’s an Übercool old building w/ remodeled rooms & lots of art deco! Our homebrew club had our competition awards ceremony there last year.  ;)
