Wyeast 1338 / WLP011

Can’t seem to find either of these yeasts.  What can I substitute?

Thanks

What are you trying to brew?

This says 1338 was dropped by Wyeast. WLP-011 is still on NB’s website.

Anyway, if I had to substitute is there anything close?

I would try wlp036, or wlp029. The attenuation is a bit higher on 29, so adjust your mash temp accordingly. The numbers and description seem to match up well with wlp011 for wlp036. I haven’t personally used it, but it should do well. Are you looking for a dry yeast recommendation?

WY1450

Thats not a bad suggestion. I’ve used both 1450 and 011. 1450 will be more attenuative and 011 will floc better. 011 is extremely clean at 58-60F. I havent used 1450 that low yet to say but its pretty darn clean at 63F.

No problem with 1450 at 58F.
