So how is the beer engine going. Have you put any other beers on?
I haven’t yet, we are actually mid move living in an rv until 8/22 when our new house closes, first thing I do once we move in is set beds up and then get brewing equipment ready for brewing on the weekend following. Will be brewing a festbier to lager until October, I know short time frame but I’m doing what I can, the following weekend brewing a pale ale to have on tap quickly. Then following that I will be brewing either a porter or stout (still undecided until I get closer, but leaning toward porter) to be put on the engine for winter! I will definitely post pics once I pour the first pint!
I took a slight hiatus from brewing. Just put on my American Bitter with Lemongrass. 1.036 OG. This is why I brew no American brewery would consider brewing and serving a beer like this and in this fashion.
Using my swan neck without a sparkler as of now. May attach a sparkler later on
Very Nice!!!
Yes there is a big expense for the engines and there is more maintenance but you will find effort extremely rewarding. Afterall isn’t it stuff like this are what hobbies about
What do you have the engines connected to within that wood frame?
They are the clamp on style so they simply clamp onto the wooden frame I made. The frame is connected to a wooden base that I connected to the plastic top of my fridge using a few bolts
Brown ale tight sparkler. Absolutely smooth and creamy brings out that nutty flavor of the brown ale.
So how is it going with the engine?
Finished the first bag and have a list of things to do better next time. Currently working off 30 gallons of Czech lager (světlé, polotmavé, and tmavé) through my Lukr faucet. As soon as I get the dubbel out of the fermentor I’m going a “best bitter” intended for the pump.
Looks very nice. Love having cask beer at home! Your setup is pretty much like mine. I just attached mine to my home made kegerator or I should say caskerator in this case
I should have taken a picture before I put it away last week. I’m still working out the kinks, but my general approach is to use 18 liter wine bags in a box from Astropouch. I use the pump to suck the ale out of the bag. The bag collapses as it empties so there is no need for even “trickle” CO2 since there is no space within the bag to back fill. I’m still playing with carbonation levels and process.
