skimming hot break foam at beginning of boil

Sometimes I skim - just for something to do - I can’t say there is any difference in any of the beers, though.  So, why do it?  Again, just something to do while waiting for the boil.

I always skim now, and generally keep doing things that are working.  YMMV

Oh, yeah…he’s TOTALLY real!

But without any reason why you should or what difference it will make.  My experience is none at all.

I’ve see him…

More T shirts!

Haha! [emoji51]

That is great!  ;D

That is very nice work, Ken. Laughed my arse off.

good times…good times  ::slight_smile:

I skimmed a few batches, didn’t notice a difference in the end. Haven’t done it in a while.

If I was working to perfect a recipe, I’d try brewing it both ways and see which method works best. Meanwhile, I’m still brewing so many different beers that I just don’t see it being worth my time.

This is the one reason I do it, when I remember to or feel like it. Otherwise, I don’t think it makes a difference either. Now skimming the top of the fermenter, I do feel makes a difference. That braunhefe is REALLY bitter stuff. Perhaps it only makes the beer taste smoother sooner, but I feel it makes for a more pleasant and rounder flavor also.

Another sighting…

It’s a Samsquanch, boys!!!

Good find, Jesse.

Shouldn’t that be a ukelele?

It’s a squach sized uke.

Spit take

Where’s the like button on here?!?

Exactly.  Where is this thread going?

Either way, I would most definitely buy a t-shirt with any of those images on there.  I could just see all the people at work asking me who the hell that guy is on my shirt?

Definitely one of the more entertaining threads I’ve read in a while!  I loved the ninja reference as well!
