Stone Go To IPA

Whaaaaa??? where’s the summit?

Definitely not mid boil. :stuck_out_tongue:

Go To tasted like 8lbs/bbl of Summit at flame out.  I blended it with other beers and still got plenty of onion.

I had it recently and didn’t like it. Didn’t get onions though. Got catty catty cat box.

GoTo is actually the #3 rated Session IPA at Ratebeer right now.  My taster and smeller must be broken.

I’ve only had a few session IPAs and liked Founders the best so far.

99% of Ratebeer is nothing more than a popularity contest.

Beer advocate is the same thing to my opinion. Some people get off on those things but I do not.

I recently bought my second six pack of this beer. The first six pack was delicious, it was a very fruity, easy drinking IPA. This six pack did not taste like the other what so ever. I was getting a lot of the onion with a terrible after taste. Not sure if it was the batch that went wrong or what but it went from great to nasty to me.

Bought both at the same store in the same cooler.

Bought a single bottle. No onions, all cat piss and citrus which is not a bad thing. The missing malt backbone was a bad thing. IPAs are one of my go to styles and this one didn’t cut the mustard. I probably won’t try another bottle or on draft. It was tannic from the hops to the point of almost being astringent. Pass.

That was exactly my assessment. No balance. I agree about the last part of your statement as well - being tannic to the point of almost astringent. You really need some malt backbone to balance out those hops.

I still say a standard IPA is a good session beer. But then I roll like that…

Had the Stone Go To IPA and liked it but it certainly didn’t “Wow” me. I bought a six pack. It’s very one dimensional and a bit unbalanced. I would drink a couple pints on a hot summer day but that’s where I leave it.

+1.  My IPAs aren’t heavy or sweet, so they’re already pretty drinkable.  Gotta be some malt to balance the hop levels.

I had two pints of this yesterday for lunch.  It wasn’t advertised by the waiter as a session IPA, so I thought it was a regular strength offering.  I too found the taste to be quite different.  I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it, but about half-way through the first pint I started enjoying it more and ordered the second one.

Interestingly I did not notice the thinness others have spoken about.  But I wasn’t out to evaluate a beer, just to enjoy one with lunch and a good conversation, so my focus was divided.

My favorite session IPA currently is Fort George’s Suicide Squeeze (only available in cans & kegs as far as I know).  It does have a fairly thin body but the hop flavor and aroma make up for it.  It is very refreshing I think.

Bottled our “Hop Revival” IIPA today at brewery (home now) and I have literally been drinking IIPA all day since about 10 am and am still able to function just fine. But, again. I roll like that.

We did have to call a ride in to pick up one of our volunteers though. heheheh

Whoa, that’s the way to roll on a Sunday. Sounds like your volunteer might be taking a siesta 'bout now !

I’m about to roll into another 8 oz pour right now!

On a more sour note, I’m sure the volunteer’s wife is not too pleased with me. But in my bestest Han Solo voice “It’s not my fault!”

;D      I’m pretty sure`you didn’t pour it down his neck.

Funny how wives don’t always see it that way…

VERY good point. I wish him luck.
