Thermapen or MW101 PH meter?

I ended up purchasing the MW101 this go round. I’m a fan of variety so I’m always brewing new styles of tweaking recipes so my mash and PH regime always seems to be different. I think for now, I will get more use out of PH accuracy. I just received my meter today, it shipped with a protective cap filled with some sort of liquid, I assume storage solution. I’m not brewing for a couple of weeks, (My wife frowns upon brew days falling on mothers day weekend) will it be OK to leave it as is, or should I take the cap off and fill it with the storage solution I ordered with it?

Thanks for all the replies!

Wouldn’t hurt to change it. You can play with the device a bit and run a calibration. Check the pH of something…

Thanks, man! I’m in the market for a new pocket thermometer and was almost silly enough to start thinking about the thermapen again. You brought me back to my senses!

Yeah, and I used it last weekend to check temp on a smoked chicken. I pulled it from the smoker @ 160F to account for carry over heat, checked it 15 minutes later and it was at the recommended 165F. It was perfectly cooked - juicy as hell, juices clear. It’s definitely an accurate one !

I questioned my sanity for forking out $70.00 for my Thermapen during an open box sale.  However, I love that thing. I use it for everything.

With that said, the OP made the right choice. The MW101 is a really nice pH meter for the price.
