I have been using my non FDA approved garden hose to clean my equipment after brewing? Is this a big mistake?
is your hose old and been used alot?
No it is relatively new.
then from my understanding there is an issue with the lining inside the hose that can kill your beer. If your’e only using it to clean and your beer is good then i don’t think you should worry about it. The reason i asked if it was old is because old hoses that have been through a lot may not have that lining because it came off a little bit with each use.
I don’t use it to make my beer. I use it to clean my equipment after I make my beer. I wipe my stuff dry after I hose it down. I haven’t tasted a difference but am wondering if I have been contaminating my beer.
I doubt it, even if it was i think its very minor. I know a bunch of guys who used to use their hose water to brew without fda approved hoses and even though they switched to the sink there wasn’t much of a noticeable difference. In fact i use my hose to clean my brewing equipment(well just my carboys and fermenter bucket) and i have never had an issue.
Thankyou for your replies. I feel better now.
