Wow, talk about a niche market.
I call BS !
No MRE IPA for me, thanks
Mine is the true survivalist beer. Just add water, barley, hops, and yeast.
I saw this yesterday, they are touting it as an alternative for camping, hiking, etc. but unless you are near some plumbing or a stream, you’ll have to carry in your water anyways. I wonder how it actually tastes. Has anyone out there tried it yet?
I’d swear I’ve seen a product in the beverage section of my local grocery store - something like “instant beer - just add water”… I wonder if this is the same stuff? I’m gonna check next time I go shopping…
Preface: Lately my idea of “camping” is pulling the bike into the lot of a Best Western.
When I used to hike/camp, the standing order was he who packs the beer gets out of cooking washing and firewood details
I"m hard pressed to think of ANY instant product that holds a candle to making the real thing. Makes BMC sound good, and I don’t say that lightly.
The last time we went tent camping, my wife announced that there would be no camping in the future unless our shelter had a bathroom.
Sounds like something out of the Jetsons… “Jane stop this crazy thing!”
I wonder if we’re related sometimes lol.
The wife and I are going camping in a couple weeks. A cabin on the river in Winthrop, then Friday Harbor Inn, then a resort on Lopez Island, then the Obertal Inn in Levenworth. Roughing it
I car camp and bring growlers and kegs. I’d give this a try if I was going backpacking. I don’t see it as being much different from the dehydrated food that backpackers eat.
In 2006, my wife and I hiked the Appalachian Trail. finding good canned beer was nonexistant in those days, so we’d split a liter of vodka. Every evening on the trail we had a cocktail of 4oz vodka and crystal light. at first others laughed at us sitting there with “our little hiker-trash drinks”. But after over a thousand miles and into PA they weren’t laughing so hard. 2,175 miles took us 182 days. There were only 4 nights I didnt have a bev, only because i was too exhausted to do so, or we rolled into town where the beers flowed freely. One HAS to reward one’s self after walking all day.
I have since modified. I found a vodka that comes in aluminum bottles (Kru). I bought some 1.75s, drank the vodka, and now we fill them with whatever I have on tap. If you’re just going for an overnight-er they are perfect.
I wish i had bought a couple cases of Bud Lite when it was in the aluminum bottles; those would’ve been perfect for backpack or on a boat.
Pack it in, pee it out.
Imagine the fossil fuels I wouldn’t be burning the next time I transport my beer? Last time I transported beer, I didn’t need a tanker truck!
;D that’s camping like my friends Lee’s Acura MDX is a “truck” ;D
Every time he refers to his truck, I roll my eyes, shake my head and say, “Lee, Acura doesn’t make a truck”
Is there such a thing as powdered alcohol?? No, there’s not. Simply add vodka?? But then you’re really just drinking a malt extract cocktail. Add some green olives or pickled mushrooms, and you’re g…
NO.
I camp four to five times a year. Growlers and a keg or two are a must. Actually, going next month, I planning on bringing 3 kegs. Though it is a bit harder when I go to bear country (Humboldt, Yosemite, Kings Canyon/Sequoia) since everything needs to go in a bear box (I have seen photos of cars ripped open just so a bear can get to a tube of toothpaste!). Thank god for my little 2.5 gallon keg, works like a charm in those situations.
As for this… I would try it for shits and giggles. If it were at least ok, I would bring some if I started backpacking again.
Who else look at the link really quick and thought it said “pabst”?
I’m going camping in a couple weeks and bringing kegs. It’s actually for the NE Homebrew Jamboree and there is no hiking involved.
Who wants to be the first to shoot this concentrate as is, no water added? ;D
Too funny. I’m not sure which night I’m looking forward to the most. BBQ steak along a river, surf n turf n hot tub, or brats n braus in Leavenworth

Well, they claim it has alcohol…and I don’t see where they say it’s dry. You do have to carb it yourself, though.
“But with our innovative and modern brewing process (patent pending) we can create a nearly waterless beer concentrate that contains all the great flavor, alcohol, and aroma of a premium quality micro brew. Our beer is not dehydrated beer!”
You do have to carb it yourself, though.
Maybe they should include a small amount of pop rocks that you can pour in after you add your water…instant carbonation!!
