Beer blending

Recently brewed (2) seperate but similar pale ale one gallon recipes. One of them I completely overestimated the hops and it’s not very drinkable, while the other is quite tasty. Would the bastard beer benefit from blending? Anyone tried this with success?

You certainly can blend beers, although if one is tasty you might not want to use that one (partly because it’s good, don’t ruin it). If you have a gallon of overly bitter beer I’d make a gallon of under bittered beer and blend those.

Hopefully the second wasn’t the Amarillo, Centennial, Cascade.  :-\

HAHA, no Steve. The botched one was a big overestimation and one made weeks before your inspired brew.

I’ve blended beers before with varying success.  Go for it.

I made an all citra IPA that was ok and a nearly undrinkable all cascade smash where I messed up the weights of the minerals. Combined they were like the Beatles.

How about a hoppy chelada? Try one with about 3 fingers of clamato and a dozen green olives

I’m a proponent of blending but bitterness fades quickly. Might be worth setting this batch to the side and checking later as in 6 months.

Yeah, I’d set the bastard in a dark cool corner and let it mellow out a bit. If you come up something too mild or sweet for your tastes maybe blend it but it could settle down on it’s own. I’d check it after 2-3 months.
