Beer clean glassware

I always hand wash my beer glasses and rinse with RO water. Is Dawn detergent ok for beer clean glassware or do I have to spend big $$ on special soap?

I just use regular dish detergent.

The trick I always heard was .. wash with warm/hot soapy water and use a sponge (I also just use regular dish soap), rinse the glass in warm/hot water and then turn it upside down and let it air dry. It’s probably been 20+ years since I heard that and it works so I still do it. I have one of those racks that go across the kitchen sink so that’s what I use. If you let it dry on a towel or something I could see condensation building inside the glass and I’m not sure if that’s a feature, a bug or neither.

My experience is neither

I always rinse with sanitizer. It removes any soap film. (Also works on nonstick pans.)

I use regular dishwashing detergent, seems to be fine. The biggest thing I’ve learned is to use a different sponge, one that does not get used to clean other dishes as this can cause grease and other things to collect in the sponge and transfer to the glass.

Easy way to get beer clean glasses is a salt scrub. Pour salt all over a damp glass, wipe it around with a paper towel, rinse.
