beer gas mix

I just installed a beer gas system for my St. Pat’s stout and started with a little over 2000 psi in the canister.  It’s only been a couple of hours of supplying my beer with 35psi in a 6 gal. keg and I’m looking at around 1800 psi in the can.  I checked with soap for leaks and haven’t seen any.  What is the normal rate of gas consumption in about 5.5 gal of beer?

I just shut off the supply to the keg to try to isolate where any leak could be.  The canister pressure is already down to 1600 psi.

Is there a temperature gradient from where you started?  That might account for the drop.  But I’m no physics guy!

The gas is at about 60 degrees and the kegerator is around 34.

Close the valve, take it out of the kegerator, and see if it goes back up.

It is worth noting that a 5 lb. bottle of nitrogen/CO2 blend doesn’t contain as much gas volume as one filled with pure CO2.

That being said, this still seems extreme. The local welding shop taught me to use Windex to hunt for leaks, instead of soapy water. I’ve not idea why, but it does work better.

Thanks!  That worked.  No more leak.
