Beer in Switzerland

Traveling to Geneva Switzerland.  Also visiting: Western France, Neuchatel Switzerland and Southern Germany (Munich might be as far north as I go).  I will gladly take any recommendations of brewpubs, must have beers, anything!  I’ve only been to London and I was in high school, so I’m very excited and don’t want to waste my time with a 4 star yelped brewpub.  I thought I’d ask the real critics out there!  Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Michael

I wish I had some recommendations. Sounds like an amazing trip. Enjoy !

Well thank you!  I’m totally clueless on the trip, so hoping to hear something exciting!

I live in the Netherlands. The area you name is a nice area to visit. But Swiss and France are not famous for their beers. In Swiss you will mostly find pils and hefeweizen I think.

I never searched for typically brewpubs in that area. But they will exist.

To find breweries in Germany you can use the following link

Bamberg seems to be a very nice beer area with amongst others Rauch beers.

I have found these two rules to be valuable guides while living (or traveling) in Europe. In fact, they work anywhere:

  1. Go where the locals go (in Germany, that’ll be a Gasthaus).
  2. Drink (and eat) what the locals do.

In Geneva; just opposite the train station (Cornavin) there is a big kinda cheesy-looking pub. Can’t recall its name but you’ll know when you see it. They have their own brews: biere blanche, bier blonde etc.
