Beer places to explore in Chicago

Hi there, I’m an AHA member but I’m also from Brazil, and it happens I will stay a week in Chicago late Oct, so I would like to know places that I must visit (brew shops, breweries and beer places…). I know the usual suspects (revolution, goose, lagunitas, etc…), however I would like to get into the homebrew scene instead.

Any tips will be welcome! It’s my third time in Chicago and the only thing I did was the usual stuff.

Hopefully a Chicago resident replies.

I haven’t been there in a couple of years, but always liked Haymarket Brewing and a multitap called the Map Room.

Pipeworks makes awesome stuff, but don’t know what their actual brewery is like.

Revolution Brewing has 2 locations in Chicago and I can recommend them both. My step-son took me there the last time I was in Chicago.

Try their Deth’s Tar and Cafe Deth if they are available. You won’t be disappointed.

A few up in the Ravenswood area are: Dovetail, Empirical and Beguile (close to public transportation - the “L”).  Cheers.

Try using the BruGuru app since you are a member of AHA.

Those are really interesting breweries, thanks a lot!

Revolution is a must - Anti-Hero is still one of my go-to IPAs.

Also Randy Mosher’s Forbidden Root is awesome!  They have great food as well - last time we had the burger with giardiniere mayo and that was super good.
