Bend, Oregon

I’m going to be in Bend this Saturday and was wondering what are the best breweries to visit?

One of our favorite spots for craft beer. We used to go 2 or 3 times a year when our youngest daughter was going to college, first at Willamette in Salem, and then at Oregon State in Corvalis. Not as often now but we were there just before Christmas 2023.

Deschutes is always a good stop, both for beer and food. Bend Brewing, Boneyard, 10 Barrel, Sun River, Crux, Good Life, Worthy and Immersion won’t disappoint either. Most also have good food. Silver Moon was a good stop in the past. Their beer is still decent, but the crowd is pretty strange now. They no longer serve great food like in the past but instead have several food trucks on the lot.

If you have a bit of spare time, Redmond, 20 minutes North of Bend, also has a few good stops. We like Wild Ride and Kobold, some really great beers, can be found at The Vault. Also a few good tap rooms in both Bend and Redmond. One of my favorites, Porter, closed their Brewery/Pub in Redmond and, as of our last Bend visit, their beers could be found at The Cellar in Bend. There was talk of them opening a location in LaPine, just south of Bend. Not sure if they have yet.

Too bad you have only one day. We usually spend about a week and still don’t visit all of our favorites.

Thank you very much! We’ll be there on Sunday for a bit as well, so I will have to check out a few.

I haven’t been in a long while.

I used to really like Crux, Boneyard, 10 Barrel (pre AB, now it’s post AB), Worthy, Sunriver (original location). Deschutes too. The McMinimann’s pub at St. FRANCIS School had a nice secluded outdoor area and was a locals favorite.

We stayed a couple nights at St.Francis School a few years ago and really liked it.

St. Francis School is great. Love the whiskey & cigars.

My brother just moved out to a little town called Prineville.  I would definitely check out Wild Ride, they have one in Priveville that was fun to just hang out and enjoy the day.  I went to a place called Cascade Lakes in Redmond that I really liked.  They have a good IPA that I bought a couple of six packs to bring home.  Those are the only two I have gone to.

I’m fond of the Deschutes pub and Crux. Crux is kinda off on it’s own but IMO the best overall lineup in Bend. It’s family friendly and packed though. (If you go out that way, maybe stop at Boneyard who makes great IPAs and a great pepper beer.) The Deschutes pub has a lot of beers brewed at the pub and you won’t go wrong with anything on tap there.

If you’re a sour beer fan, Ale Apothecary’s taproom is in town. They make great sour beer and might be closing soon.

There’s quite a few breweries and bars on the east side of Mirror Pond in a very walkable area if you want to bar hop a bit. There’s a few clustered together with 10 Barrel not too far away.
