I am planning to brew my first Berliner this weekend and I was wondering if I should be concerned about a stuck mash.
My recipe is 58% Pilsner 42% Wheat. I plan to mash at 149 degF.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I batch sparge a la Denny’s method (more or less) with a hose screen and haven’t had an issue. Just make sure you’re not grinding your grain to flour and you should be just fine… especially with the somewhat nominal amount of grain for a berliner.
Cheers.
Agreed. In addition, even if it does stick, as long as you’re batch sparging, it’s easy enough to stop draining, stir it up, re-vorlauf, and continue draining.
Thanks! I have only had one stuck mash for a high gravity beer where u mated out my MT.
Rice hulls are your friend ;D
