Brewing on the Edge of the World: Canada's Arctic

I thought you all might enjoy this article.  It’s on HBT (where I mod). I know it’s generally uncool to link to other forums, and I apologize for that, but this guy’s story is a little unique and (I thought) fascinating.  Give it a read if you have time.  There’s a second part that will be published tomorrow AM.

He’s not a sophisticated brewer, but given the circumstances (!), I’m amazed he does it at all.

Wow, that sounds like a dyer situation up there. Very sad. Thanks for sharing.

By the way, I’m not one of those that thinks it’s bad to cross reference forums. We all view them, we all post (or have posted) on them at one time. I don’t see the big deal with cross posting forums. People who think it is a big deal need to chill the eff out. Everything will be okay, I promise.

Cheers!

Boy do we have it lucky here in the lower 48.  Even with the inane alcohol laws occasionally limiting us in many ways, we don’t have the problems of the far north…though he can lager all year round, I bet!

Yeah, he’s probably not funking too many out with high ferm temps.  I’ll quit grousing about the prices I’m pay…for awhile.

I was going to say he probably doesn’t have many troubles with fruit flies…but then his are like 5’3"

That does not tell a compelling story for why anybody would want to live up there.

Haha, they’d definitely try to drink the beer from the fermenter, fermented or not, I’m bettin’.

Yea, I would like to ask why anyone would.  But he’d be the wrong guy, considering his attempt to get out.

he tried to get out?  I missed that part.

eta:  I see it now.  if I actually knew he’d GTFO I’d probably pitch in.

Hotel Canada. You can stay but you can never leave.
