We’re building a HERMS system and are down to the copper coil which needs to go in the HLT. Is there any reason not to just buy an immersion wort chiller and use that? Seems like that would be much easier than buying tubing and building a coil.
It’s just bling factor once you’re down to that choice. You’ll save money on bulkhead fittings, and probably save a ton of time. It will work the same otherwise.
We already have full couplings welded into the keg (HLT). I was just thinking it will be a PIA to wind the coil. I was thinking of taking the wort chiller, cutting the fittings off the end, doing a little tube bending, and putting the ends into the swagelock fittings (coupling from NPT to swagelock).
