How’d this turn out, Denny?
Did you taste the special B or not?

(My guess is not)

Nope. Didn’t care for the result but the Spec B wasn’t really evident.

I really think the Caramunich’s (I, II, or III) are the only way to go for this style, if some sweetness is preferred; Special B is a bit too raisin-heavy for this style of beer for my palate.  Sorry that it didn’t turn out so good.  Were the ingredients a bit old, perhaps?

I have an American-style Octoberfest up for tomorrow’s brew day (not for me - I prefer traditional Marzen, but my buddies want that authentic American Sweet Octos style), so I am using up some of the Weyermann Bohemian Floor Malted Dark in lieu of Munich malt, but with Caramunich II as the sweetener.

I tried leading that horse to water, but they know what they like, despite my promptings toward tradition.  I created a monster when I gave them too much information - namely, that I can brew an O’fest that replicates their favorite commercial caramel heavy amber.
