I had a large group brew at the house a couple of weeks ago. As a result, a couple of neighbors have decided to get into the hobby. We have decided to build Denny’s mash tun. My question is this: since we are going to be using a coleman Xtreme 70qt cooler and focus on 10 gallon batches, we want to make sure that the stainless steel braid can hold up to the pressure of 25 to 34 lbs of grain (and the strike water). Any concerns?
If you’re really worried just grab a length of copper wire, coil it around a pencil or something, and insert it into the braid. In addition to providing additional support, it also adds weight so the braid doesn’t float up like some folks have complained about.
