I enjoy most If not all Deschutes beers but this one disappoints me. I have been wanting to try this one for some time. With the name I know what to expect but this tastes like biting into pine needles. I am actually surprised they can get this flavor without using some type of extract and it almost tastes like gin with some light lime zest in the background. I have kind of been going back to older IPAs as the newer, super fruity IPAs aren’t always that appealing to me. I am curious about what others think about this one because I could see it being a love/hate type of thing.
I’ve avoided it because I thought it would be a pine hop extract bomb
Good move. I got it in a mix pack with other solid beers so it isn’t a total loss. I still can’t believe this is a year round offering…
Yeah, I had that beer once and then asked for a Fresh Squeezed after that. I have been tempted to try it again, but usually something else will catch my eye.
I like it. Like you said, they aren’t hiding what it is with that name.
I loved it when I bought a 6 when it first was released back in the summer. I immediately bought another 6. It got old. I still have one in the fridge. I felt the exact same way about Fresh Squeezed. I’ll pass both up for an Inversion IPA.
I really liked the beer. Other than a fairly underwhelming aroma after so many intense, often fruity hop bombs, every other aspect of flavor, mouthfeel, balance, unobtrusive alcohol, really hit my sweet spot for IPAs.
Interesting. I assumed I might be in the minority. I do like the idea of ‘piney’ IPAs normally
I certainly could be an acquired taste.
I’d like to find some. I’m a pretty big fan of Chinook, Simcoe, and Columbus. Pretty sure those are represented there.
Unintended great description of most of us here. 8)
Spot on ;D
I bought one this weekend. I will not be buying a second one.
