Going from 10 gallons to 220 gallons

I have a recipe that maybe upscaled to a 7 barrel batch. I was wondering on your experience on jumping from a homebrew scale to a brew pub batch. I have promash so grain is the easy part. I am wondering about the hops and spices that are in the recipe. Do they scale lineally as well? Any info will be welcomed!

If you check the box in the recipe formulation that says" Lock Ingredients to Batch Size", then yes, it scales it. Then just increase the batch size (GAL) to 220 and you’re set. It will even scale the mash volumes as well.

The hop utilization increases when you get to pro sizes. The brewer should be able to give you their utilization %.

Make sure you tell us the whole story if this happens. I assume you either won a contest or met someone that liked your beer.

You are going to need a big starter. One vial of White Labs won’t cut it. See www.mrmalty.com for more info.

I just got the email from the brewer, he is going to brew it sometime in the new year. :o

It was a club contest.

How long will it take to come up with 6.3 liters of Delerium Tremens yeast slurry? Thats going to be a big starter. :stuck_out_tongue:

easy! 4 full carboys on stir plates and you’re set!

Those would be need to be some big stir plates.

House stir plate

tornado stir plate!

LMAO

Congrats on winning the contest as well.

Congrats! Make sure we (I) get some specifics. I would like to taste it.

Well here are the pictures from the brew this past weekend.

Congrats on making it to the big time!

The last photo . . the phallic ice stalagmite . .symbolic of something related to the beer . .(or perhaps yourself when you learned you’d get to brew a 7 bbl batch of your recipe) ??

Nice man!

Wow…your moving on up in the wide world of brewing. Congrats!

Congrats, big guy!

What kind of beer was this again?

A Delirium Tremens clone, done the way N8 did his hop schedule.
