I started 6 months ago in this fascinating hobbie of Brewing.
I don’t know how the hell its keeping my mind almost every hour at work, home, while driving, before sleep!! damn!
last saturday i was making my first kind of IPA from leftovers hops: Liberty, Saaz, Hallertauer and Magnun
5 pounds of 2 Row,
5 pounds of Pilsner mal
1 pound Biscuit malt
Safale 04 (very aggresive!)
65 IBU’s aproximate
Excelent attenuation, in six hours it was already messy, sticky floor, airlock at 3 feet side of the fermenter (boom!) well i hope i did’t have an infection for this, meanwhile… i’ll wait for good results
I begun with 3 batches from extract, 1 partial grain and i have 3 batches being All Grainer…
I will like to share some pictures and stuff with you…
Welcome.
How hot is it where you are brewing? That’s a pretty big beer and if you are not careful it can get too hot which will cause the airlock to blow off. It is also bad for your beer to ferment too hot.
Well, the current temperature of the wort before adding the yeast was 26.5 F. Previously i re hydrated the yeast in warm temp,(pre boil water) and the add it at the temperature, in minutes S04 it begun really foamy and well reacted.
I didn’t really leave to much space in the carboy for krausening, but now is doing well
Is that 26.5 deg. Celsius or Fahrenheit? you listed 26.5 F but that would be frozen solid so I’m guessing you meant 26.5 C which is around 80 deg F. A little warm and would definitely cause a big blow off.
yes, i was talking Celius , sorry sometimes i work better in Farenheit and other times with Celsius,
but anyway, that was a good spectacle after all… like a volcano!

Dunkel Weizen, Method single infusion
(I live in a second floor department, damn is thoughy sometimes, specially for chilling!)
