I dry hopped in a nylon bag in the keg with a string of floss tied to the handle so I could retrieve the bag. Went to take the hops out tonight, and the floss had gotten severed, and the hop bag is at the bottom of the keg. I don’t have anything long enough that could be effectively sanitized. Should I worry about the hops staying in there?
Should be fine. I have a large mesh cylinder that I fill with 4-6 oz of pellets. I leave that in until the keg kicks. That is normally 3-4 weeks
I leave hops in keg until it kicks. No issues for me.
I also had problems retrieving hop bags (I was using Teflon tape), so one my last IIPA I just tossed the hops in a paint strainer bag and tie the open end in a knot and shove it in and leave until the keg kicks. I haven’t picked up and weird or grassy flavors.
