Why does this have to be pinned here?

This seems like using the site as a vehicle for free advertising.

Per the Forum Protocol:

“If you are a product or service vendor, you are welcome to discuss your product here as long as you participate as a member rather than using the site as a vehicle for free advertising. Violation of this rule will result in immediate deletion of posts and user accounts.”

Are you referring to our job post? I actually reached out to the BA/AHA and asked where I should post a job listing and they recommended the Classifieds section. Hopefully someone who makes great homebrew is interested in a brewing career. Cheers!

Yes. I was. I was also referring to the rules of the forum which encourage those doing advertising to stick around and interact rather than just drop advertisements and leave.

I was also referring to the fact that someone pinned it to the top of all posts. That seems excessive.

Thanks.

Hi Tommy,

Julia herself pinned this topic to the classifieds section. This post also does not violate any forum rules.

Thanks. Seems like it violates the spirit of the rules.

Per the Forum Protocol:

“If you are a product or service vendor, you are welcome to discuss your product here as long as you participate as a member rather than using the site as a vehicle for free advertising. Violation of this rule will result in immediate deletion of posts and user accounts.”

I know job ads are slightly different than products being sold, but not that much. There are brewers that post here regularly. By the rules their job ads would be welcome, but not brewers that only come here to drop the ad and then leave. Now, I understand in this case the brewer asked and got permission from Julia. The brewer did nothing wrong and I am sorry I may sound like a jerk to him. But, it appears Julia interpreted the rules differently than I would.

Pinning the topic to the top of page so we had to see it every time we came to the forum was the most egregious part to me. If we change the rules to allow drive by job ads and pin them all to the top of the page, this place will become a whole different type of forum and I for one would not enjoy that new paradigm.

Hello Tommy. Noted and good item to keep top of mind in the future. Cheers and good beers to you. Julia
