StarSan in distilled water was said to last for weeks, until it turns cloudy. How about Iodine in a spray bottle…what is it’s holdover time?
Iodine in water would be very unstable, so not very long.
I assume you mean an iodophor though. I never keep them around. I’ve read 24 hours but I think it can be longer than that. Not nearly as long as star-san though which can last months in a spray bottle, if not years under optimal conditions (I doubt you would run into that situation in practice unless you rarely brew or have a really big spray bottle).
OK, that answers my question. Thanks. (I suspect that Iodine is the active ingredient in Iodophor…could be wrong.)
Yes iodine is the active ingredient. I too would not put it in a dray bottle for long term use. One of the problems is that it stains the plastic and you’ll not be able to tell if the solution is still orange and thus active or if the bottle is orange.
