jacketed conical fermenters for homebrewers

I’ve been using the Grainfather conical and I’m loving that it’s jacketed to make cooling easy.  But I started thinking that I don’t recall seeing other jacketed conical  in homebrew sizes.  Does anybody know of others?

Internal coils sure, but come to think of it,  never heard of a jacketed one under a barrel or two.  Wonder why?

The fast ferment conical has a bag like jacket to hold ice. Not quite a jacket more of a mini fermentation chamber of sorts.

Do the coils do cooling as well as heating?

If you run ice water or glycol through them. I know I’ve seen Ss Brewtech advertise them as options, and probably others too.  I’m pretty sure there’s been a thread or three around here about people making their own.  You raise an interesting question.  I’d think an external jacket would be easier to integrate with a fermenter,  and way easier when it comes to cleaning and sanitizing.

I haven’t seen a truly jacketed conical fermenter at homebrew scale under 1 BBL. Seems fairly complicated kit to maintain, given that you really do need to manage the chemistry of the water/glycol mixture. At least if there is a leak in the coil solution, it can quickly and easily be detected and fixed.

Then again - I want a couple now.

You mean, “another” jacketed conical.  The GF seems great so far.  Before long I’ll be allowed to talk about the other piece of the picture that makes it even better.  Just wondering what else is out there that might be comparable/compatible

Hi,
Not affiliated in any way with them, but Brewers Hardware has jacketed conicals in 15, 20, and 30 gallon sizes. I was drooling over them just a few days ago…

Hi Denny,
Are those Rennerian coordinates in your signature line?

I see they have an 8 gallon too.

Thanks for the conical info!  And yes, those are Rennerian coordinates!

Denny,
Thanks for the reply. Those coordinates take me back to a simpler time in this hobby of ours.

I got 'em as well!

A quick Google search yields a blog (never a good sign), and is a story of what people do when they have too much free time.

Edit: Don’t want to sound like a jerk, but this is also from someone who has too much free time. I’m working on learning Norwegian, which Norwegians indicate is pointless.
