Legend (Richmond, Va.) Brown Ale

Maybe I was swayed by the setting — sitting scant yards from the Yorktown battlefield in Virginia — but I was quite impressed by this one.

Dark, almost black, with a tight cream-colored head.  Malty with notes of caramel, not too sweet, and balanced well by the hops.

The bottle image on the site appears somewhat lighter than I would expect from your description. But that’s probably photoshopped to #$(* and back.  Also unusual that the page says “Our most popular beer”. You don’t see that on many brown ale product pages.  It’s also just nice to see there’s still people who appreciate a dark(er) beer. Even that’s becoming rare.

Sounds tasty!

Clicking through to some of their other beers, I think it’s a generic bottle image with the label photoshopped for each.

Yea, whatever is in that bottle they photographed, it ain’t make’n a cream colored head.
White?  That’s more like it.

I know Williamsburg isn’t “right next door” to Richmond, but not too far.

Next time in Williamsburg treat yourself to an Alewerks Brewing Company Tavern Brown Ale.

We almost went to Aleworks … but wound up going to Strangeways instead.
