Last year, I did a really beautiful NEIPA, but when I did the keg to keg transfer, the springs in the keg posts kept getting clogged with the dry hop material. Thoughts on the most effective way to prevent this?
Does anyone still make the SureScreen™?
Saw that recommended on Maltose Falcons but haven’t been able to find one.
Yeah, me neither. Seems like it’d be just the trick, but no one sells it anymore.
I appreciate the reply, though!
Brewhardware.com sells something that appears to be similar, if I’m reading the OP’s post correctly:
I’ve had great luck using a BouncerMD (NOT the classic, it’s too small) when doing closed transfers of very heavily hopped or fruited beers. They sell a few different sized screens but the red one (20 mesh / 950 micron) is small enough to keep your posts from clogging.
Thanks - I’ll check it out!
You might consider drawing from the top of the keg rather than the bottom. the FlotIt 2.0s work well.
I always add the dry hops to the fermenter in a nylon hop bag that has been boiled and then rinsed in StarSan. I toss in a small spare stainless fitting to sink the charge. It’s worked well for me.
Thanks, all - appreciate the feedback. Cheers!
