The girlfriend wants me to get a smaller keg setup, and some thing that is a little more aesthetic than a full sized fridge. I’d like to be able to run two cornie kegs at once, and maybe have some room for lagering. Any ideas?
Seriously, though, maybe a small chest freezer that could fit in a laundry room or garage would work. There are some great threads about kegerators on this forum that might give you some ideas for making one look more aesthetic.
+1 on a new girlfriend and get a chest freezer big enough to hold six perlicks and a couple of kegs lying in wait! Then go ahead and get a freezer for lagering.
I was thinking the same thing. Asking a homebrew to downsize his kegging setup is like asking him to cut off certain protrusions of his body ( like an arm…get your mind out of the gutter )
I have a 7.2 cu ft chest freezer that measures about 2ft deep by 4 ft wide and probably 3.5 ft tall. I have 4 kegs in it and if I had built a taller collar, could put 2 more on the hump.
For aesthetics its hard to beat those brewmeister kegerators, depending on brand they hold at least two cornie kegs (some have three taps on the tower.). I’m going he chest freezer route and some chest freezer mods look pretty nice too.
There’s actually a thread on, I think, Homebrew Talk where someone used a metal toilet brush holder (available at Linen’s and Things or someplace like that) to build a DIY tap tower.
The photos looked good, but I don’t know how sturdy it is. If I had the link, I’d share it. You ought to be able to google it though.
