Hello members I have been brewing a little over three years now. A buddy brewed at home and I enjoyed his stouts so much (ex Bud light drinker) my wife gave me a 1 gal kit for Christmas. This was brewed bottled and ready to take with me to my brew buddy’s new home in Destin Fl for my vacation. The beer was so good I mentioned to him I would try 5 gal brewing. Well he loaded me up with everything he had more than two of and I came home with a 7 gal brew pot, fermenting bucket, carboy, stirrer, bubbler and two LME beer kits. I decided I would use growlers to keep down the bottling, transporting, and storing efforts but it was still too much. I purchased a used kegerator that came with a full CO2 bottle, regulator, two kegs, a carboy and a 25ft copper chill coil. I haven’t looked back since. I have 15 kegs in the books and enjoy all the time I spend on this fascinating hobby. Looking forward to learning more on this forum.

Welcome. Sounds like a fun journey so far.

Welcome!

Welcome!

Incidentally, I have heard that glass growlers are risky for bottling, as they may not have the strength to handle carbonation pressures, just in case you do more bottling when your kegs are all in use. I cannot verify that personally, but it’s worth being cautious perhaps.

Welcome. Always something new to learn or try. Lots of knowledge and experience here which I have found very helpful. I just made the jump from extract to AG myself after a number of years brewing. I feel like a newbie all over again. Always something tom look forward to.

You’ve been well and truly bitten! Have you considered kegging? I brew in five gallon batches also. When the beer is ready, I put most in a keg but bottle 12. I use these as gifts and donations for fund raisers. I repurpose the bottles from new craft beers that I haven’t tried.

Welcome aboard! You sound like me in that I got a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas many yers ago and never looked back! Enjoy the hobby, I know I do!
