I got an old corny keg set up from a neighbor that got out of brewing 6-7 years ago. He said I needed to lube the lid o-ring with something but he couldn’t remember what it was. I can’t find that at the online brew suppliers. Anyone have info on this?
It’s called Keg Lube. Your LHBS should have it.
Or you can pick up silicon grease from your local Lowes or Home Depot. Look in the faucet repair supplies.
Or just use petroleum jelly…
i like the food grade lube-sold many places.
I’ve got a leaky cornie lid and just picked up some keg lube. How much do you use? I assume a light coating all the way around?
Yes. I put a small dab on the tip of my index finger then rub that all around all sides of the o-ring.
Astroglide works wonders on an o-ring.
^^This. You will throw your nasty Keg Lube away. It washes away in hot water.

This sounds like a good thing to me. Am I missing something?
Lolol
Not sure what this conversation is about…
I believe this thread has officially been derailed;)
Which washes away in hot water, Keg Lube or CIP??
Most of the time, that is when the fun starts
I’m assuming CIP. Keg Lube is pretty hard to remove. I can’t stand it.
Sorry, the CIP removes completely in 120F water. Threw my old Keg Lube away.
I prefer good old olive oil. Wipe the posts with a small amount before hookup.

So CIP is soluble in water above 120 F. Does anyone know if it’s soluble to any degree in a 5% alcohol solution? Could it affect the head on beer?

I use CIP and have had no issues.
