I have been elected treasurer for our HBC. I want to open a club bank account and to do so, I need to obtain an EIN. The EIN requires an address for the club (I have asked our local HB supply shop to use their address) and a responsible persons SSN. How have other clubs handled this? Are there drawbacks to using my SSN for this EIN? Thank you in advance for your help.
You should consider filing incorporation documents for your club. That enables that entity to obtain an EIN. Incorporation also provides a bit of protection for all club members.
